Day 2--October 16th Boston

We took a taxi from Logan Airport to our hotel, Boston Commons & Convention Center.  Randi mentioned the emergency we'd just been through and they let us check in even though it was only 6:30AM!  We went to our rooms then had a continental breakfast after which we all napped for a couple of hours, showered and reconvened at 11AM to take on the city.  David was feeling much better!

We headed first for the Mapparium which is in the Christian Science Center and is a 3 story glass globe built to scale of the world as it was at the time decades ago.  You walk out onto a glass bridge in the middle of the globe and they do a short show with lights behind the stained glass--it's a pretty amazing spectacle--no photos allowed so will upload one of a postcard later!

We then went to Dillon's for lunch where I had the first of the many classic, famous, best, lobster rolls that I chose to sample in the following days.  Dillon's had been a former police station and the fire station that it was attached to was still active.

Next we headed for the "Freedom Trail"--Fanueil Hall, Quincy Market, Paul Revere House, Old North Church....

Continuing our health issues, due to a problem with my right ear, I had started prednisone this morning and by afternoon had an excruciating headache so went back to the hotel while the other three went on to dinner...
